On this exact day back in 1926 Miles Dewey Davis III better know as Miles Davis was born. The african american trumpet player and composer changed jazz from the time he hit the bebop scene in New York in 1944 while studying at The Juilliard School of Music, to the time he started playing at clubs on 52nd street with Coleman Hawkins and Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, and also throughout the years spent collaborating with Gil Evans during the cool jazz era to the recoding of The Miles Davis Quintet on Columbia records. Davis would have been 84 today.
