(November 4, 1975 – July 28, 2010)
Reported missing since July 19th, the body of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright was found in a wooded area of southeast Memphis, Tennessee, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
The former University of Memphis Tiger stand out and at one time Memphis Grizzle was dearly loved in the City of Memphis.
I remember going to Grizzle games at the Pyramid and Fed-ex Forum and Wright was definitely a crowd favorite, because he was a hometown favorite and also a hustle player who brought tons of energy to the court. Lorenzen Wright was one of my favorite players when he played for the Grizzlies. I remember getting to meet him at IHOP two summers ago, he’s really nice person.
Lorenzen Wright also gave back to the city of Memphis with his annual Lorenzen Wright Basketball Camp.
Lorenzen Wright, you will be truly missed.

From Clutch Magazine – We’ll its certainly in her genes. Selah, daughter of Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley takes to YouTube to sing a cover of Justin Beiber’s “Up.” 12-year-old Selah says on her page, “I want to sign to Island Records so badly and do a duet with Justin Bieber! I’m afraid to ask my mom to sign me and she’s already signed!” The budding singer has a slew of uploaded videos showing her pipes over tracks by Beiber– she is clearly a big fan! Selah is too cute, and with some growth, and nourishment she might give her mom a run for her money one day!

If you’ve not listened to Esperanza Spalding, you’re missing out on a rare treat.
Spalding is a 25-year-old dynamo, maybe the best thing to happen to jazz in a decade or two because she has the star quality missing from so many young players. Eldar and Julian Lage are exciting players, but Spalding is not only a capable player — she’s also a singer capable of making a song her own.
Check out this video of her performing Stevie Wonder’s “Overjoyed”:
We can thank Pat Metheny for this treat: the story goes Esperanza was ready to quit Berklee after spending two semesters lugging her bass around, and switch to a political science major. But Metheny told her not to, pointing out she has the undefinable quality that can make an artist rise above others.
Need more proof? Here she is Jimmy Kimmel’s show:
How can jazz be dying when it draws someone so full of life?
Corinne Bailey Rae performs on day two of Latitude Festival 2010 held at Henham Park Estate on July 17, 2010 in Southwold, England.
“Bailey Rae charmed the crowd with her melodic tone, as she performed hits from her debut self titled album and new songs from The Sea.” – EADT
