Corinne Bailey Rae – ‘Closer’ Music Video

UK  singer Corinne Bailey Rae premiers her new video off her latest album ‘The Sea’ titled ‘Closer’ which is the albums second single, directed by Adria Petty. Petty is the director of the documentary “Paris, Not France” on hotel heiress and celebrity Paris Hilton, of course. An interesting in-depth look on Paris’ life that premiered at the 2008 Toronto Film Festival. This video displayed some disco-inspired scenes with lots of flashy sets and 70s/80s costumes.

What other Blogs are saying:

The Media Kings – “…her gritty soulfulness, musical openness and depth on this record (much derived from experiencing and triumphing through great heartache) made her music finally something I could relate to.”

Toyaz-World – “The Adria Petty-directed clip was a very classy affair which consisted of some disco-inspired scenes. Much of that had a lot to do with the flashy sets and 80s costumes, which she looked gorgeous in. I’ve really been loving this latest look of hers, and I’m glad one of my favourite soul tunes to drop this year finally recieved the single and video treatment! She gave me life!”

The Smoking Section“It’s always nice to watch a clip with female singer looking sultry & attractive without the need to appear oversexed.Corinne Bailey Rae dolls up very nicely, donning a ’70s look for the video for “Closer.” Definitely one of the better tracks contained on her latest release, The Sea.”

My Opinion: I’m a long time fan of Corinne Bailey Rae, and I really think she did a great job on this video. I really like the throwback themes in this video, and how well they were captured. It’s good to see Corinne back in the music scene again, I thought after the sudden passing of her late husband Jason Rae back in March of 2008, that we wouldn’t see or hear much from her for a while, which we didn’t, but it was not as long of an absence as I expected. She bounced back strong with her latest album The Sea, I encourage everyone to go out and buy it, it’s worth the money. I give this video a 4 out of 5 stars.
